A stroll along the Big Wood River, through forest and fields that gorgeous in all seasons.

The Lake Creek Trailhead is along the highway just north of Ketchum, and makes a great starting point for all kinds of outings. Hikers can enjoy short and easy strolls along the river or strenuous forays into the hills. Mountain bikers can ride the same trails and find options of all difficulties.

What's mapped here is an easy out-and-back near the river, good as a nature walk on its own or for reaching other trails in the vicinity, like the popular [Fox Creek Loop]( The Lake Creek trails may close in spring due to muddy conditions, but late spring and early summer are ideal for walking among green grass and wildflowers. Come in midsummer for shade beside the water, and in fall for the brilliant foliage. In winter, the trails are converted to groomed ski trails and not generally open to walking.
