Morning Hike

Beautiful day but ended up feeling quite warm. That road feels v long in the heat.

Consensus was that the scrambling/routefinding felt easier than expected. Took the east gulley all the way up, which of course simplifies things. Did also spend a lot of time looking at photos/reading trip reports this week. Legs did feel a bit more unstable than usual - felt like it slowed us down more on the descent. I've also conditioned myself to feel much more comfortable facing in on downclimbs even on class 3, which also slowed us down a bit today. Don't think Leo faced in once on the descent. I was also surprised by how loose the top of the gulley felt.

(happily) No wildlife sightings of note despite reports of a mountain lion + cubs on the trail on 14ers.com when I woke up, plus another hiker we passed telling us she saw a bear right before seeing us.
