Miranda Sheets is a champ! This was her second backpacking trip ever and we barely spent a second on trails. Scree and slab and snow and steep ass dirt & grass all day. She smiled the whole time! I wanted so badly to explore Bear Basin, it was a little tricky finding a way off of Crystal down into it, but holy wow, might be the most pristine spot I’ve ever traipsed through. And then the climb up to Treasure saddle involved scrambling up a lot of gorgeous bone white slabs, myriad opportunities for peeping cool rocks and wild flowers, and plenty of babbling streams to drink from. Truly such a special day out there.
