Bike yay! 🫐 🫐

Vallon blanco: on the most exposed trail I thought I’d hike all of and ended up riding most of - if you don’t think about the cliff you’re riding along, a very rideable trail from the summit to car. Best I’ve felt on a bike. Really neat tunnels from the war at the top! Go explore if you’re there. 

Then Monte Cavallo because why be home early on a Sunday, and while the trail is slightly falling apart at the top (top 100m not rideable), the rest of the descend is fast and fun! Finished with an ice cold river dip to end another perfect weekend. 

Now story time for those that want to read more: 
Ever since I was little I loved walking on edges; one of my nannies quit once because I was too stressful of a child. Not much has changed, but so far I’ve only been doing exposed things on foot and on skis. I saw this trail a while ago and really wanted to do it, and we had a chance this weekend!

BUT, ever since we were in the avalanche I’ve been so scared. Not so much for myself but for Andraz. He is extraordinary skilled on the bike (and skis) and I trust his judgement in his skills 100% - watching him is joy and I never feel like he’s pushing something he isn’t capable of doing. But I think the avalanche made me think for a brief moment that I could lose him, and I think of all the things from that accident that scared me most. 

So, a long way to say I was really scared to do this today. But I don’t want to feel like that for the rest of my life and I think the most beautiful part of our relationship is that we love and are capable of doing things like this together. So I really wanted to do this today despite being scared. And it was one of the most beautiful tours I’ve done. 

It was actually scariest on the climb - carrying the bike ok the pack sideways just makes a narrow trail feel narrower, and with a bit of loose rock I fully expected I’d walk most of it down. 

But then I got in the groove and when you’re riding you’re so focused on the trail ahead I didn’t notice exposure as much as on the climb, making descend not just braving fears, but also so fun! 

So glad we did this together today ❤️
