Well, I thought I ran a half decent race until I found out that this was my slowest time by over a minutes, and over 2 minutes off my PR. 9th place is also probably my worst placing here, but it was a pretty deep field. 

Ran the first mile at what felt like fairly quick (and likely unsustainable) pace, but didn't feel too bad. Heard the beep and saw an 8:46 which is actually quicker than I was expecting it to be. Thought I'd make it to at least 10 minutes before walking, but barely made it past 9. Kept the walking breaks short, and was able to go sub-10 on all miles which is good. 

Rain was rough. Luckily it was warm enough out to not be too bothersome, though were were a couple flatter sections towards the top with a surprisingly nasty headwind. Came through the mile in (apparently) 9th, and stayed there the whole race. Eighth pulled away and I was a bit worried Erik would come back on me, but I managed to pull away on the flatter sections towards the top to beat him by 20s. 

All in all, I can't call it a bad race cause I was pretty pleased when I finished, only more disappointed later after seeing how much faster I had run previously. Happy to stay under 10s, No where near fast enough to think I can break 70 at Washington next week, but maybe I can break 75 and set myself up for a good, short, marathon block before Sydney and hit the mountains hard next year to break 70. If I can run this pace next weekend, I'd be happy.
