June: the worst month to hike in southern New England and it ain’t even close. Maybe 10% of today was me not frantically hiking from and swatting at mosquitoes and black flies. Anytime I stopped, head-to-toe rain gear went on immediately… on the hottest day of the year 🙃
Had my stove fired up directly inside my tent last night, which was a first. Vestibule wasn’t an option with how relentless these fuckers were. 

Aside from all that jambalaya, the hiking was friggen awesome. Trail Magic, consisting of chips, goldfish and cherry Coke. Seeing those coolers at a trailhead with rocks on top of them is like seeing the second coming of Jesus from a distance.

My good friend Shawn Corkum and I hiked the Mass section 2 years ago so it’s been a joy retracing the steps and bringing back all the memories. I’m gonna try to push 35 miles to end the day with ice cream at our creamery. This one’s for you, Shawn
